Shaking a Few Branches

We have certainly ‘shaken a few branches’ over the last couple of years, turning many heads in the process. Our business has not only grown significantly, its retained many of its long standing clients and enhanced those relationships. We’ve walked away from numerous “not right for us” opportunities whilst developing the best operational delivery team in our industry. In fact, we provided a service to one multi-site client with no missed cleans for over two and a half years, nearly 750,000 perfectly delivered 1st time cleans. Excellent service in everything we do is one of our core values.

Hygiene Heroes

We remain as true to our core values now as we always have. A couple of them in more recent times have become even more prevalent regarding our people and around honesty. Our people are at the heart of what we do and how we do it. Our Hygiene Heroes campaign during the lockdowns really helped to raise the profile of cleaners during such a challenging time. It was viewed more times than any other similar campaign that followed our lead, and to think we started this campaign to raise the profile of cleaning teams across the UK fills me with immense pride.

Honesty

One of the other core values we have stood by is honesty in everything we do. During the pandemic, we agreed, as a business, to never made a penny profit from Covid-19 sanitising or decontamination services to our existing clients. And although our business grew during this time with our retail clients, we remained true to that position. Our team is very proud of that fact and would do the same time and time again as a simple matter of principle.

Gre
at Wins, Brilliant Retention

Some great contract wins, some fantastic wins in exciting new sectors, and a brilliant retention and contract extension position have enabled the business to invest in some amazing people and technology. And I mean amazing. These investments will pave the way for the next period of our growth and development plan. Our NIC “one source” platform is simply brilliant and unique and will, I am sure, set the benchmark for our competitors.

Great Talent

In my team, I’m delighted that we have had a reshuffle and have, because of that, employed some seriously great talent not only in the form of two new Sales directors but also as part of our Post Grad Scheme. I’m looking forwards to being able to help to develop this young and vibrant talent and to learn from them in turn as I watch them become future leaders of NIC.

Growing and Evolving

NIC continues to grow and evolve. It continues to disrupt and innovate. It continues in its relentless drive for service and excellence, equality and fairness, and will, I am certain, be one to continue to watch over the next few years. I’m very much looking forwards to it.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the death of Steve Calvert on 27th April 2020 aged just 65.

We are all deeply saddened to learn of Steve’s death and would like to express our sincere sadness and sympathies on behalf of all the Board, the management and the staff at NIC, to his wife Katrina and family at this difficult time.

Steve worked for NIC as our Franchise Recruitment Director and worked tirelessly to develop our Franchise business. He was a highly valued and respected member of the NIC family, the effects of his loss are already being felt by his fellow colleagues.

During his many years at NIC, his jovial manner, dedication and selfless nature was always something that many others could only hope to attain, all who knew him regarded him with great respect and admiration. Steve certainly left his mark during his time at NIC and helped the company move forward in great strides – his efforts and contributions will never be forgotten.

Our heartfelt condolences at this most difficult of times are with Steve’s family and his friends. Steve was a remarkable man and we are all better people for having known him. For those of us here who knew Steve outside of work, we knew him to be kind, honest and a man of great honour and strength.

Please post your messages of condolence below and we will ensure these are all passed onto Steve’s family.

On behalf of everyone at NIC,

You will be missed Steve!
